darrell's
wonderful world
of
biographical news...
Well, yes.  My life has been very biographical.  Thank you for your interest.
It all began in the year nineteen hundred and seventy, on a cold winter's morning in November around eleven.  Yes, I can remember it now, hanging upside down,
screaming, and naked.  Those were the days.  I grew up in the small town of Albany, which is located in southwest Georgia, and spent the first six years living at 406 Shadowlawn Drive.  Nothing but fond memories, indeed.  I moved to Dale Drive, in 1976, where I lived until I moved to Columbus, Ga. for a year, then I moved back to Albany until 1993, when I moved to Americus, Ga until 1996, in which I moved back to Albany and lived on eighth avenue for a while, then I moved to where I live today, back on Dale Drive, three houses away from my parents.  Exciting indeed.
From 1989 to 1995 I accumulated six years of art school, but never graduated, because I never passed Algegra, as well as some other courses I avoided, but I made up for it by taking some art classes over again.  I pretty much took the classes I wanted to take instead of those I needed to take, and I feel I got my money's worth.
In 1994, I suddenly lost vision in my left eye, and  several months later I lost some vision in my right eye.  I was first diagnosed as having Toxoplasmosis, then Behcet's disease, then Vogt Koyanagi Harada syndrome, and then in 2003, was again diagnosed with Behcet's disease.  It's Turkish and French I think, but smells like
potato salad.
Apparently,  it is some sort of auto immune disease, that seems to be extrememly rare from what the doctors have told me.  It is not contagious, nor is it genetic.  Infact, they really do not know what causes it.  It's one of those things that boggles the mind, I guess. Hmmm...  IIt is so rare, that you are more likely to get struck by lightening and hit by a car, than get what I have.
All in all, I see it as nothing more than a wake up call from God, which at the time I received this, was quite understandable.  During the time I first had "I" trouble, I was living a life of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll, with an emphasis on the latter two.  I believed in God, but only on my own terms.  I believed that all paths led to Him and I was on my own path.  Apparently, He directed me on a shortcut, which led me to His Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Messiah.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, it saved a wretched poor miserable self seeking
soul, like me.  I once was spiritually blinded by pride, arrogance, lust, and all forms of the sinful nature, we are born with, but now, my Lord has opened my eyes to His beauttiful majesty, a light so bright, the sun blemishes in comparision.  According to the doctors, which I'm not sure how they came up with this, I only have about twenty  percent vision in my right eye, and no vision in my left, but I would not trade a chance for complete physical sight, for one day without my King.  He is the reason I live, and for that, I honor Him with the gracious talents He's blessed me with as much as I am able.  Don't misunderstand me, I am not boasting in no way.  I still struggle with sin everyday, but my strength is in Christ.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea..." Psalms 46:1,2.
